Who am I? My name is Bill Urell, I have been a member of Blog Success since December of 2006.

That is when I launched my authority site blog Addiction Recovery Basics. I got involved because trying to make some money from the internet had been a hobby of mine and I finally was making some with Google Adsense. I was putting up garbage sites. Then the infamous Google Slap occurred and I was wiped out.

Something that Jack Humphery said caught my attention. “Google will never penalize good original, relevant content”. So I decided to stop gaming Google and play by their rules. Jack founded the membership on a promise, “Post and rank”. I provide the posts and his system would keep us on the cutting edge and get us ranked in the search engines. That is exactly what happened.

By day, I work as an drug and alcohol addictions therapist at a leading nationally known residential treatment center. I wanted to use my blog not so much to make money, but rather to establish authority and a voice in the addiction recovery field. A successful blog extends my reach to tens of thousands, not dozens.I have succeeded beyond my wildest dreams. I find great satisfaction in sharing recovery information and help.

Currently, I specialize in working with the unique problems of older adults who have chemical dependency. I have written a book called “The Addiction Recovery Help Guide” and authored over 100 articles on various topics concerning addiction recovery.

All this is the result of a midlife crisis where I switched careers, bought a white convertible and moved South. After a somewhat misspent youth, and working at a high pressure job I came to dislike intensely, I got this idea that I wanted to make a positive contribution to the world. Not to become rich or famous and build my ego, but more for personal satisfaction.

I hit a brick wall or glass ceiling in my own personal recovery and started asking myself “Is this all there is?” I wasn’t happy, in fact I was in a crisis as big as the one that got me in treatment years ago, just different issues.. I came to realize I had been abstinent for years, but had neglected my personal growth and spirituality in my recovery.

I asked myself when I am in the casket 6 feet deep and family and friends are gathered around, how do I want to be remembered? What will they engrave on the tombstone. I don’t want to be spinning in the grave for all eternity with an epitaph like “He could take care of himself. The lone stranger.” Kind of kidding there, but not really. I realized what was really important was not what I owned, (and it was never much), but it was more who I am, and who, if anyone, I had touched in a positive way.

I love the internet and computers, own about 45 websites, and my hobby is internet marketing. As soon as I turn my hobby into a business, my efforts in that area will fund my retirement where can spend even more time on Florida’s beautiful beaches basking in the sun and listening to the surf.

Thank You, Be Safe and Prosperous
